Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman from America. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals since February of 2020. The biggest was a $350,000 investment that will provide 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a multi-talented employee throughout Corcoran's childhood. Her family depended sometimes on food deliveries from the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran recalls her father, who was a drunk at times too much and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran was a struggling student throughout school. She later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended a Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
